Tapestry of Donaustadt ist ein partizipatives Kunstprojekt, in dem handgestickte Wandteppiche entstehen.
Sie zeigen persönliche Erinnerungen, Geschichten und Lieblingsorte aus der Donaustadt – erzählt von Menschen, die hier leben und wirken.
Die Teppiche werden in gemeinsamen Prozessen entwickelt: in Workshops, offenen Treffen und im langsamen, konzentrierten Arbeiten am Textilen.
So versteht sich das Projekt auch als soziale Skulptur – als Raum für Begegnung, Gespräch und gemeinsames Nachdenken über die eigene Realität im Bezirk.

Tapestry of Donaustadt is a participatory art project where hand-stitched wall hangings are made.
They show personal memories, stories and favourite places from Donaustadt – told by folk who live, work and feel at home here in Vienna.
The tapestries are created in shared processes: in workshops, open gatherings and in slow, focused and mindful textile work.
The project is also a kind of social sculpture – a space for meeting, blethering and reflecting together on everyday life and shared realities in the district, for people of all ages.
